I wrote this for my family newsletter. Can't decide if I like it or not. It turned out a little too "wordy" which is kind of distracting. You decide.

When promise fails and falls far short
when future dims or dreams
contort;
do not to failure acquiese
aspirations youth yearned
naively.
The camoflage of naivette
disguises unchanged parapet;
as
what envisioned goals absconded,
never went away.
Angry cynics long
despise,
what hope and wisdom rationalize;
and man's divine
elucidation,
bears hollow resolution.
